mine was mineplex, it was good a couple years ago, sad to see that it's dead now.

2018 i finally bought minecraft when 11 after 3 years of playing on my brother's account singleplayer
i got on to A towny serve that he played name guardianskies (was basicly verity cause the owner exit scammed and stole $1000 from each person that bought from him) and my brother bought a rank
i begged my mom for clash royale gems and she bought it a week later tho she lost $1k from minecrft.net and the server shut down Rip my brother's rank also my mom never got a refund

like 2 months after this i started hypixel

Factory resetting is your best bet but if you really don't want to here you go:

1. Run hostsmod as mentioned above.

2. Delete. Minecraft

3. Delete %temp%

4. Uninstall java

 

After you did this you wanna go on your windows update settings and reinstall latest update 

This worked for me and removed kant's shitty rat.

Although I recommend factory resetting (I factory reseted because I don't want to risk anything ya know)
